Hi,
Thanks for this information, it worked fine for me using the r8168-8.009.00.tar.bz2 from the realtek website. Ofcourse a restart is required before all changes are applied;

lsmod | grep r81

shows you which module is being used. After rebooting it showed

icns@atomic:~$ lsmod | grep r81

r8168                  38416  0

so all is fine now, and no more dropped packages! :)

Using the latest 8101 driver from Realtek (1.010) with Ubuntu 8.10 (kernel 2.4.27-generic) did not require your patch. The rest of your instructions are still accurate. Thanks for providing this information.

It gives me this error.. what should i do?

c@a:~/r8101-1.007.00/src$ patch < ~/r8168-8.005.00.hardy.diff.txt
can't find file to patch at input line 4
Perhaps you should have used the -p or --strip option?
The text leading up to this was:

No, the app generate a text report according to the template of Ubuntu-it wiki’s notebook section.

Ubuntu-it’s MoinMoin version doesn’t support API, so the app only show the report.

I like the idea, but why note generate English test results, so everybody can learn from it? Maybe auto upload to a server like the standard "Hardware testing" does.
